Tianamen, the gate of peace in the sky

Tianamen Square, the open area of 500 x 900 meters is part of the Forbidden City which is now called Old Town Museum. Here there are buildings used by Chineseleaders. Tianamen Square also noted the history of mourning, known as the tragedy of Tianamen. Because here many young fighters who are killed democracy. They are known as the Martyrs of Tianamen. One of the democratic leaders who joined a mass march in Tianamen namely Liu Xiaobo on October 8, 2010 and selected as the recipient of nobel peace. In 1989, a former literature professor was jailed for 5 years,

because democracy protests in Tianamen field. A few years after leaving the penalty, Liu Xiaobo again sentenced to prison for 11 years, because they oppose the government. Now he is serving a prison sentence which is located 500 km east of Beijing. When his wife, Liu Xia told him as the recipient of nobel peace 2010, Liu Xiaobo burst into tears and said "this is for the Martyrs of Tianamen Square."

Tianamen word means peace in the heavens gate. Tianamen built during the Ming Dynasty in 1420 under the name "Chengtianmen" (Gate to receive orders from the sky).

Along with the state moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing, buildings are destroyed by the fighting. In the Qing Dynasty in 1651, which destroyed the building was renovated and renamed to Tianamen until now.
From the empire until the republic now Tianamen become the center of government.
